Trybal GO is a camp-based summer adventure that offers teens an extraordinary opportunity to explore, connect, and grow in an environment full of fun and meaning.

No matter if you’re a lifelong or a first-timer camper, Trybal GO offers teens a fresh take on this classic summer experience. Our home base is at an adventure resort nestled in the Berkshires Mountains of Connecticut. As a camp-based adventure, we’ll savor the best days of summer navigating a daily menu of fun activities and thrilling adventures – not typically found at traditional summer camps. Many of our days will also be dedicated to exploring the region and going on outdoor adventures, including an off-site Shabbat experience in the Catskills.

Elements of the Experience

NOT-YOUR-AVERAGE CAMP
Our home away from home is situated on a private lakefront property featuring the amenities of a first-rate summer camp. We’ll fuel up each day in the dining hall (kosher) and wind down at night with gourmet s’mores under the stars. From silent disco to bubble soccer, archery tag to tie-dye, inflatable jousting to slip ‘n’ slide kickball, opportunities abound to test your endurance, learn new skills, and embrace the natural beauty of the Berkshires.

HITTING THE ROAD
We’ll venture offsite to explore natural wonders and cultural attractions unique to the area. Free-float down the Farmington River rapids on an inner tube. Cheer on the home team at a local minor league game. Test your agility with glow-in-the-dark ax-throwing at Thrillz Adventure Park. Feel the adrenaline rush at Six Flags New England and cool off at the Hurricane Harbor water park. There’s so much beauty and excitement to be found nearby in the Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York State regions

SHABBAT ESCAPE
The Catskills Mountains is one of America’s premier vacation destinations. Famous for its green hills and extravagant resorts, the Catskills served as a vibrant vacationland for Jewish families throughout the mid-20th century. Endearingly known as the “Jewish Alps,” we’ll spend a relaxing Shabbat at an all-inclusive resort (just ask any Mrs. Maisel fans!). Along the way there and back, we’ll climb mountains, discover the beautiful Hudson Valley, and visit the original site of Woodstock!

You have questions? We’ve got answers! Our most frequently asked questions for this program are answered below. Additional program-wide FAQs are also available. Contact us to learn more.

How will my teen travel to the program?
Our camp home base is located in Kent, Connecticut at the Club Getaway resort. Families will have the opportunity to either drop their teen off directly at our camp location or include round trip transfers from LaGuardia Airport in New York City (supplemental cost applies). Additional transfer options may be offered according to interest. Contact us for more details.

Where will my teen be sleeping?
Lodging is in deluxe camp-style cabins with ages separated wherever possible.

How is the program staffed?
Each group is accompanied by a team of madrichim (counselors) and a group leader. Staff names are sent out prior to your departure as part of the pre-trip preparation email series. Learn more about our staff team.

What’s the summer weather like?
Temperatures range from warm to hot during a summer in the Berkshires. Daytime temperatures range from the 70s to 90s with cooler evenings. The clothing that teens pack should be lightweight and comfortable in hot temperatures. When the group is outside for an extended period of time, participants will be required to have a hat, a shirt with sleeves, sunscreen, and water. These rules are strictly enforced because overexposure to the sun can cause heatstroke, dehydration, and sunburns.

How do you approach security?
The safety of the teens under our care is our guiding consideration. Learn more about our organization’s approach to safety & security.

What’s the food like?
Most of our meals will be served at our camp base, which features a fully kosher dining facility. Other meals take a variety of forms and may include restaurants, specially catered meals and allowance funds for participants to purchase a meal on their own. For meals outside of our camp base, we will always ensure a vegetarian or pescatarian approach, but meals will not be certified kosher. We will also not restrict teens from eating the food of their choice. Some meals may be provided via an allowance system whereby teens will be given cash to purchase the food of their choice. Such meals are typically arranged in an area where there are multiple restaurant options, and teens can choose the food of their liking. In situations where time is of the essence, staff may choose to facilitate meal orders on behalf of teens using their allowance funds, including non-kosher orders. When the group eats at non-kosher restaurants with a pre-ordered menu, the options will only consist of vegetarian or pescatarian dishes. Participants with special dietary situations (i.e. lactose intolerance, gluten-free, kosher, etc.) should contact us in advance to be sure we can accommodate your needs during the program.
